Excursion to Meknes and Volubilis

Pick-up at 10:00 a.m. from your accommodation in Fez, in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle.

Stop en route to capture photos to last a lifetime. Also, enjoy the fresh air at Ain Lah, company of the royal family, Zagotta, the attractive ACHAHAD Dam and Rif Mountain. Then arrival at the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Explore the remains of the 2,000-year-old complex and learn more about the historical and cultural Roman city, including the ruins of the Arch of Caracalla, the Basilica, and the Capitoline Temple. Enjoy free time to discover a place at your own pace.

Afterwards, continue to Moulay Idriss The holiest Islamic city, monument and mosque open only to Muslims. But, it gives visitors an excellent impression, just taking a look at the city hall. It is a panoramic view. Afterwards, look at the elongated square above us, the green-tiled pyramids of the Zaouia, and wander through the maze of neat alleyways. (Pause to eat)

After lunch, the visit of the city of Meknes begins. Enter the Medina. To, discover monumental gates of the city dating back to the 17th century. Like the Royal Palace, Bab Berdaïne, Bab Khemis, a famous gate in North Africa Bab Mansour, and ornamental decorations of Hispano-Moorish architecture. Also, stop at the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, founder of the Alawite dynasty and sultan when Meknes was the capital. In general, our tour will not be complete without a visit to El Hadim Square, the huge granaries and stables of El Heri es-Souan, built by Moulay Ismail’s soldiers, and the Museum of Moroccan Art.
